Confessions of a Movie Slut

in the year 2006, our heroine embarks on her most treacherous challenge yet-to lead a decent life despite the insanity and pressures that come with academia. she pursues honours in english though her thesis is on film. an opportunity to prove to herself that she can think. and actually think hard. will she finally transcend the ways of the fuckwit to become a competent person? will she be able to watch all those movies without growing a tumour or becoming catatonic? stay tuned.

i want to love me...

... but they're not letting me
and it's even more painful
to realise
that i'm not letting myself
love me

on a brighter note (read: upcoming films that's gotten me jazzed), fractured fairytales seem to be more of a hot property these days. which is cool, cuz nothing plucks at my twisted cords than a dark, distorted take on myths and tales. morbid i know... but seriously, fairytales in their original forms are never meant to be innocent even though they are supposedly catered to children. deceiving aren't they? i love it!

the brothers grimm- yes, yes i know this has probably come and gone in sg but it just opened in oz the day i left for home. gawddamned slow poke. i'm terribly interested in terry gilliam and his vision. and especially after the failure of 'who killed don quixote'. just need to figure out how i can catch this one by the horns...

lady in the water- i'm a sucker for shyamalan. and i keep imploring people to stop comparing his latest efforts to the sixth sense. anyway, before i start a tirade... i'm really looking forward to this. there's an interesting mixture of drama, fantasy and tension. and a bedtime story written and directed by shyamalan?? sounds tasty. teehee.

pan's labyrinth- i love love love guillermo del toro. the devil's backbone is one of my fave horror movies. it's shaping up to look like a twisted take on alice in wonderland (if alice isn't already twisted to begin with!).

currently listening to:
mad world by gary jules
over and over again
yes... it's been tragic
